Another Phu Quoc sunset...

Just wanted to add this photo to the story below. I hope my 3rd trip to this island is successful. With ocean temp around 90 and air temps alittle above 90 this place is special and I have not been able to see many of the islands charms. So here is to the future and another adventure to come.

Family Trip...

Since my wife and I got married and came to the US to live it has been 14 months and my wife missed her mother and family very much. And since we had navigated the government to get my wife her legal residence we took a trip back to Vietnam. We arrived in HCM on April 8th and went to a new hotel where my long time viet friend is now working. I forgot to tell you that we arrived with 225lbs. of gifts and presents for all family and friends. Lucky my viet friend helped me to truck all that up to the city where my wife is from so we did not have to drag and pay for all that baggage. We only spent 2 days in HCM before flying up to Dalat in the mountains where the weather was awesome. We spent almost 2 weeks up in Dalat with all the family and friends and had a great time. We went into the country side to the house of the brother of my wife for the first time. Before we have always gone to her sisters house because it is closer and easier to get to but we rented a car and finally got to brothers. It is very beautiful in the country side of Vietnam and the life style is very rural. For the last part of our trip I wanted to take my wife to the island of Phu Quoc in the gulf of Thailand off the Cambodian coast. It was not easy but when all was said and done it was cheap. When in Vietnam as many 3rd world countries there is nobody to help you find your way to places so either you get lucky or a friend has been there to help you. We had a cottage on the pool right above the beach as all the beach cottages were full but for $47 a night with a great breakfast it was hard to complain. On our second day on the island we rented a motor bike to travel to the other side of the island to see the sugar sand beaches there and got into an accident. My wife broke her leg and I have 3rd degree burns on my leg. We had a rough time getting home as there was no medical treatment you could trust where we were so it was run for home. My wife and I are now healing and licking our wounds.
I met this young man on my first trip to Vietnam and we have shared a friendship ever since. He has helped my wife and myself with everything when we are in HCM. We wish him and his wife and new baby happiness and health.
The whole family went to this park to see the sites, this is the koi pond. Right after this picture is started thunder and rain that sent us for home.
My wife and her sister on the walk to the waterfall.
My wonderful viet mother.
A beautiful hat on a beautiful lady.
My wifes brother is an incredible artist and he painted many hats for us to bring back with us to share with family and friends.
This is the waterfall by brothers house that is now providing electricity for his house.
This was dinner at brothers house and the food was wonderful. Brothers wife did a great job.
This is my wifes brothers house way out in the country side of Dalat. He has done quite a great job to build this and when it is done I am sure will be awesome.
This is what I call a shrimp dinner. All those large shrimp are on a coconut lit on fire to cook then peeled for you and put in the coconut milk for you to eat. Very Good!
This is a coconut that I had seen and tried before. They are very exotic but I did not like the taste at all. I found it odd that with all the places I have been in the world this is the only place I have seen this coconut.
The night market also has many dried seafood items to take with you.
The night market had many seafood restaurants with many choices for dinner. Many of these I have never seen before.
This is the entrance to the resort we stayed at in Phu Quoc island
This is the dining room where we would have breakfast every morning.
This is the beach bar that was shady and cool during the day and really fun and cozy at night. Great for walks on the beach.
This is my wife on the porch of our cottage on the pool. We had dinner here most of the nights as it was private and beautiful.

Another awesome sunset in the Gulf of Thailand

This display was in the Taiwan airport and were made out of recycled throwaway things. Art from trash.
